Stephen M. Horan is executive director of the Financial Planning Review and associate professor of finance at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he also directs the Master of Science in Finance program. He was previously managing director of the Americas region and managing director of credentialing at CFA Institute. His research focuses on ESG investing, wealth management, tax-efficient investing and derivatives.
Horan’s research awards include the 2012 Graham and Dodd Readers’ Choice Award, and he has authored or co-authored several books, including the highly regarded “Strategic Value Investing” and “The New Wealth Management: A Financial Advisers Guide to Managing and Investing Client Assets.” Horan holds a PhD in finance at the State University of New York/Buffalo and a BBA degree in finance at St. Bonaventure University. He has earned the CFA charter, the CIPM designation and the CAIA designation.
