On-Demand 2: Legislative Roundup: How Recent Congressional Action Has Sculpted the Planning Landscape
The last decade has brought a lot of changes in politics, the way we interact, and the way we consume information. Changes in the way advisors plan was no exception. As it relates to financial planning, legislation and the makeup of the tax code usually determine what options are available. This session offers a road trip back in time to some of the major legislation that has been enacted and how each congressional action changed the way advisors plan for their clients.
David Haughton is an advanced planning consultant with Commonwealth, which he joined March 2018. In this role, he provides financial planning support for advisors, including estate, trust, charitable, education, business, and Social Security planning strategies. Mr. Haughton earned a BA from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a JD from the Massachusetts School of Law. He is admitted to the Massachusetts and New Hampshire bar, as well as the U.S District Court, District of Massachusetts, and the U.S District Court, District of New Hampshire.
