Why advisors are seeking resources to explain alternatives to clients and how to have better conversations

New research from Cerulli Associates in partnership with IWI and Invesco shows private markets grow in importance, advisors are looking to the exposures to reduce reliance on public markets perceived as less representative of holistic market performance.  Advisors are faced with a steep education hurdle for implementing alternative investments. In addition to understanding the products for their own sake, advisors must also be ready to explain the products to their clients in terms they will understand.

In this session, experts from Cerulli and Invesco will discuss their recent research study on Private Markets and insights from Invesco’s language studies on the best ways to overcome communication traps and clearly communicate with clients about diversifying using real estate investment trusts (REITs) and other alternative investments.

New research from Cerulli Associates in partnership with IWI and Invesco shows the wealth management industry changes, your business has become more complex. Clients expect more from you, and with both equity and fixed-income markets declining in 2022, there is industry recognition of the need for greater diversification than that offered by traditional asset classes now perceived to be more correlated. Recent research from Cerulli and IWI found that most advisors recognize the opportunity in alternative investments and are planning to increase allocations to alternative investments as they seek to diversify client portfolios.
